RESONANCE
Live music for stillness and reflection

Music that takes you there.

RESONANCE is live music for groups and for quiet time alone. Together with the musician, the audience shapes the music as it unfolds, so you can settle into stillness, let your attention soften, and drift wherever your mind needs to go.

This is not therapy. It is a space to breathe, settle and listen inward. The journey is yours.

A solo trumpeter playing

Two scenarios

Gather together, or find your own stillness.

Two ways to enter: with a live performer and a group, or alone in your own quiet space.

A small group session

Step into a small, intimate performance. A live trumpeter is playing in the room and responding to the audience's instinctive input: the music takes the audience to a calm, alert place, before anyone says a word.

For you, at your own pace

About the performer

Who is in the room with you.

Wei Gao builds live music for people who want to slow down and listen.

Wei co-founded MetaOrigin, which builds AI tools for music education, and has spent years exploring how people learn to listen.

RESONANCE started from a simple question: what happens to a room when the people in it help shape the music?

What I have found out, surprisingly, is that people don't just express themselves. They need to collaborate, compromise, and experiment. It is like a metaphor for exploring life and finding beauty in it.

How a session unfolds

From settling in to gently returning.

  1. 1

    Arrive and settle

The room is quiet and the music begins softly. Nothing is asked of you yet. Simply arrive as you are.

  2. 2

    Find your rhythm

Scan a QR code to participate in the music creation. Or wear an EEG to control the music with your mind. In either case, settle into a calm, invigorating state of mind.

  3. 3

    Go deeper, or come back

The music moves with the mood of the room, opening when people are ready and softening when they need stillness.

  4. 4

    Gently return

The session ends with one soft bell-like sound, an invitation to return to the room, or to yourself, at your own pace.

You in the room

Your experience, your pace.

Join in as much or as little as you like. Nothing is required of you, and nobody is put on the spot.

  • Come and go as you wish. Stepping out for a moment is always fine.No explanation is needed.
  • Sit, stand or lie down. The music adapts to the space you are in.Eyes open or closed, whichever feels right.
  • Choose what you focus on. There is no score and no wrong way to listen.Let your attention wander, and gently bring it back when you notice.

Looking ahead

The next step: music that follows your mind.

In future sessions, we are collaborating with Stanford Neuroscience to create a wearable EEG device that can read your brain waves and drive the music telepathically. Stay tuned.
